ACCOMODATIONS & LOGISTICS

For this event your hotels are on your own. We will be working out of small airport near Akureyri Iceland.

Getting to Akureyri - 

Airplane - Iceland air flights from REK to AEY

Car - 5 hour drive from Reykjavik (this is an amazing drive & very easy to do), 

Car Rental -

Car rentals can be picked up from either airport for use driving around Iceland. However, if you are going to be doing any sort of driving in off-road locations make sure you check that your car has four wheel drive and mind the signs for where cars can and cannot go. You don't want to get stuck. In Iceland they drive on the right side of the road and follow standard driving practices for Europe.  US & EU licenses are good for renting cars you do not need a special one.

Uber/Taxi - both are available in the area to go to/from various things.

Staying

We recommend staying at hotels or Airbnb's in Akureyri Iceland. This is roughly a 10 min drive by car from town. There are many to choose from and you can use standard travel sites or google to find which one fits your budget.

Camping

In addition there are several areas where you can camp nearby and we will have a limited number of tents available for rent. There are also additional local places in Iceland where you can rent camper vans or tents if you want to camp nearby.  Akureyri has a local pool where you can pay to shower daily.  - Check back soon for details on tent rentals & camp locations.
